Correction 1982 to late 1987-88 D32S
From the get-go i was a bit hesitant on the yr of the D32S mfg date (I also mis-read the description on the Vintage-Washburn Site as i strongly remembered that it was produced <late '80's-'94>.  I researched ...

My info indicates the model was made from the late 80's to 1994.  So, based on that and the serial number I'd say your guess of 1988 is a pretty good one.

Thank you for your perspective ship of fools.  I have been told that the repair can run $20-30 per inch and this one is probably 24 inches.  I am a little concerned about ending up selling the guitar just to pay for the repair.

A few questions....

Did you buy the guitar in this condition?
How much do you have in the instrument already?

A few observations....

Any "luthier" that can't give you more than one method to make the repair on this instrument is ...

Welcome to the forum.  Nice score.  The guitar was made in Japan.  Possibly solid wood, but more likely solid top with lam back and sides.  The Martin style headstock was used until '84 or maybe '85.  By '86 the "V" headstock was in use.

The fretboard ...

In Washburn nomenclature a "S" suffix typically means solid top with lam back and sides.  All solid wood construction would typically have a "SW" suffix.  All lam construction would not have any suffix.  However, exceptions abound, particularly from th...

This is a first version (1976-77) D -28 S.....this one has been mis-marked.  (Your pictures clearly show the top to be solid)

My literature states this is a solid top with laminated sides and a 3 piece back. (The literature doesn't state...
